Trustees
StephenDickey
Stephen is Sean’s father and is a successful businessman. He was born and raised in Central Otago and is proud to be part of that community. Stephen served for six years on the primary school board of trustees and 11 years on the yacht club committee. He was also treasurer for the Central Otago branch of the Institute of Surveyors for several years.
I envisage this trust as being a way of helping other young people to fill the void left by Sean’s untimely passing.
Geoff Dickey
Geoff Dickey is Sean's uncle and an automotive engineer by trade; he ran a successful mechanical work shop for 25 years. During this time he was on the Central Otago Motor Trade Association committee. Geoff is a keen sailor and ran the Wanaka Yacht Club Learn to Sail program for many years; he also was club commodore for two years.
After selling his business in 2010 Geoff worked at Treble Cone ski area for seven years as maintenance engineer and then proceeded to work in Antarctica for several summer seasons.
He thinks this trust will be a leg up for other young leaders like Sean and help them reach their goals.
Tim Dickey
Tim Dickey works in Dunedin as a Career Firefighter and is Sean’s cousin. He has experiences on both sides of charitable funds; he sits on the Lawrence-Tuapeka Community board, who review requests and approve funding for various community projects, from a number of different funds. He was the project leader for the successful Lawrence community helipad project, where they designed, built and commissioned a helicopter landing pad for emergency use. In that role we applied to numerous grants for funding for our project. Growing up he also attended outward bounds mind body and soul course and the area schools leadership camp which were both funded by the Lawrence Lions club.
Aggi Sanders
Aggi Sanders immigrated from The Netherlands to New Zealand in 1993 with her partner Rudi. They have lived in Wanaka since 1994. She has for most of this time been involved in the holiday park industry while also caring for foster children and offering family support through the Wanaka Community Hub. She got to know Sean and his family mainly through the sailing community as both her kids are ardent sailors. Both families spent numerous weekends at sailing regattas all over the country. She hopes the trust will enable the young leaders of the south of the South Island to strengthen their leadership skills and put them to good use in their communities.
Brian Lavelle
Brian arrived in NZ from London in 1985, and is a NZ citizen. Thankfully retired in 2015 after 40+ years in the Financial Industry, mostly as a Financial Markets Trader, working in Auckland, Wellington and lastly in Singapore For 21 very happy years. Brian lived in Wanaka for 6 years volunteering for NZ Coastguard and met the Dickey family via the golf course, where surprisingly none of us improved. Brian now lives in Havelock North where he is an active volunteer and Committee member of the Hastings Riding for the Disabled.
Helping the trust will definitely put youngsters on the right path for developing a committee spirit and the sense of giving something back to their communities.
